THE BENEFITS OF MASSAGE
Therapeutic Massage is recognized as part of a health and wellness lifestyle. Many cultures use massage treatments to soothe aches and pains and facilitate the body's own healing power. Massage therapy promotes body balance and efficient body function by increasing the efficiency of blood circulation, enhancing the immune system, lymphatic system, respiratory system and digestive system. The benefits of massage are cumulative, and also include reducing the effects of daily stress, alleviating problem conditions like muscle tension, chronic fatigue, headaches, TMJD, and fighting the negative effects of aging by improving flexibility.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR MASSAGE
During the first session, physical assessment, client history, policy and procedures and client expectations will be discussed. Goals for the massage session as well as methods and flow will be agreed upon. Please remove jewelry, (wedding rings are ok to leave on).If you have long hair, you may want to wear it up and off your neck for the session. You may want to empty your bladder before the session begins, as massage stimulates all the body systems, In addition, drinking water before and after the session, allows soft tissue to be hydrated as well as nourished, and assists in the removal of toxins from your body.
If at any time, you are not comfortable it is important to ask the therapist to stop immediately. Also, feedback to the therapist about your comfort level, i.e.: pressure of strokes, lighting, music, warmth, area being massaged, etc., is important. It is best to receive massage every week to reduce the physical stress that builds in the body, and incorporate gentle stretching and other self help methods. Occasional appointments provide temporary symptomatic relief; but the cumulative effects of therapeutic massage are lost unless received on a regular basis. Treatment plans will be discussed on an individual basis.

DRAPING
Every attempt is made to provide a modest and safe environment for you. You may completely undress or undress only to underwear, however you feel the most comfortable. Clients will be modestly draped and covered at all times. Only the area being massaged will be undraped. The genital area will not be massaged. However, work may be done close to this area only if permission has been given, otherwise a professional distance will be maintained.

PERSONAL HYGIENE
Clients should be clean and freshly bathed on the day of the treatment.

THERAPIST CONVERSATION
There may be times when general discussions take place during the massage session. However, as a therapist, focus, concentration, and centering are required on my part. If you are interested in my explaining the techniques used, please let me know and I will be happy to do so.

CONTRAINDICATIONS TO MASSAGE
